About SMEC

The South Korean company SMEC was established in 1988 as the machine tool division of Samsung Heavy Industries, Ltd. Later, in 2014, the company founded its European branch – SMEC Europe. SMEC is a manufacturer of CNC machining centers, vertical and horizontal lathes, which are exported to more than 60 countries worldwide, including the Czech Republic. SMEC lathes are available in various configurations, including models with driven tools, Y-axis, sub-spindle, and dual turret heads. They come in sizes ranging from 6” to 32” chucks, with machining lengths of up to 5000 mm. Additionally, a wide range of accessories is available.

The Machine

  • Supert spindle structure - the radiator fin head assembly to minimize thermal growth and Bzi sensor increases rotation accuracy for high quality machining
  • Optimized feed system design - the pre-tensioned double anchored feed system and 6 contact surface x-axis slideway frame enables high precision and heavy duty cutting
  • High rigidity design - the 45-degree slanted bed with torque tube ribbed structure supresses vibration during heavy duty cutting for high precision machining
  • Operator centered convenience features - operator convenience maximized with features such as M-CODE based programmable tailstock, Manual Guide i and operator centered panel
